Steve McIntyre

Steve started playing brass instruments when he was 8 years old. Whilst at school he played euphonium with Sussex
Brass (Hastings). He took up the trombone before going to the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating in 1986
having studied under Terry Nagle, Roger Harvey and Peter Gane. He had a brief spell as 2 nd Euphonium with Williams
Faireys under Roy Newsome where in 1986 he was fortunate to be part of the team that won the BB National Championship
Section. Since moving back to Sussex he continues to combine a career in the Civil Service together with conducting brass
and wind bands and playing trombone in jazz / big bands, brass bands etc. Steve is currently Musical Director of Uckfield
Concert Brass, a position that has reignited his interest in conducting brass bands through contest and concert mediums.
